Hi,
Anyone made their own sangia? - Any hints & tips would be greatfully received! We're having friends over on Sunday so I need to make a large volume!!!
I've surfed the net & found so many variations.
Thanks

there are as many traditional recipes as there are Spaniards making it!!
The one I was taught years ago, and always goes down a bomb
2 parts red wine, to 1 lemonadfe,
best made day before, chop loads fruit, best if bruised, as helps to carry on fermenting process, sugar to taste, cinnamon, orange juice ( not obligatoru( dash of brandy.
Leave to ferment.
just before serving, add ice cubes, and lemonade
fruit makes a lovelyfruit salad withice cream, but dont let kids near it
Cheap wine is fine, but thge better the wine, the better the sangria

For a fairly alcoholic but fruity version:
1LTR Jug quarter filled with ice and lots of fresh chopped fruit
Fill to 2/3rds full with a decent red wine
Add 4 counts each of brandy, triple sec, peach shnapps and banana liquor (clear variety).
Top up with equal measures of lemomade and fresh orange juice.
Mix well, the end version will have a cloudy appearance.

The one I got years ago from the Sunday Times is:
1 bottle red wine
half a wine bottle of lemonade
one measure of gin (25ml)
one measure of brandy
one measure of golden rum
one measure of marsala, madeira or malaga
one measure of red martini
chopped fruit; oranges, peaches and bananas work well
Scale these measurements up for a large party.
Fiddly compared to some recipes, but I can assure you it is wonderful.

Remember that everything that Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did too; except she did it backwards and wearing high heels!
