MAG540

Postby jonbar.1 » Sat Aug 03, 2024 7:37 am

I have just replaced my old MAG 250 with a new MAG540.
All seems ok. However, when I press the power button on the (box) remote to switch it off,it also switches-off the TV!
It's not catastrophic, but it's annoying me
I've Googled it but can't find an answer.
Any advice welcome
Also  Since I connected the new box, the red standby light on the TV; instead of being constantly red when I switch it off, goes on & off at 5 second intervals. Not so with the old box.
Again: any ideas appreciated.
( I remember when a TV had just two knobs on the front & an aerial shaped like a letter "H" )

Could be HDMI control connection turning the tv off when you power down the magbox. Think it's called CEC and can be disabled in the tv settings. When i power up my firestick it turns the tv on, and when i turn it off it puts the tv into standby

Cheers Bob.
I went inyo tv settings. >>
" Anynet+" >>
Turned-off " HDMI-CEC"...seems to have worked
It has also cured the "flashing standby light"
Thankyou.

Two birds with one stone :-)

I leave mine on as it's one less remote control to find...

Oddly enough Bob
The remote for the new box does not have the "FFWD" buttons!
So I am still using the old remote.
These buttons allow you to jump from page-to-page instead of laboriously scrolling down every page
