Lemon tree

Postby ashtondav » Mon Sep 30, 2024 12:10 pm

Crop of very small not particularly good lemons this year. Spotted and removed a few suckers. Tree trunk seemed infested with ants so killed them off, anything else I should do? It looks like it needs a good pruning for eg

It’s on an irrigation system. And many more successful trees appear to have no water supply at all.

Sometimes ours just has a poor year for no reason, perhaps it just has a rest! Also, it has been a very hot summer this year and we find some our plants seem to cook in the heat regardless of the amount of water we give them. I'd give it a prune in the winter and I'm sure it will be better next year. Our lemon trees are the most robust plants we have in our garden.
