Has anyone ever used the Waterdrop Water Filter System? It seems to sell well on Amazon, probably through price which seems cheaper than other systems but is it any good ?
We are getting the sink fitted on Friday and wanted to ensure that we get a water filter system put in at the same time.
Any recommendations or criticisms of the Water Drop System?

In our town here in Almeria the amount of repairs tat are carried out by Galasa means that the water is always brown tinted. It might not be noticeable but we have outside filters fitted before the mains gets into the house and I have to change the filters every 3 weeks as they have gone from white to brown in that time. We never drink the water or even use it for boiling veg or tea or coffee.
Friends have the under sink filters and seem happy to use the water for tea etc but don't drink it.

Reverse Osmosis is what they use to desalinate sea water or any water for that matter. It is perfectly safe to drink. When we were living on our yacht we had a RO watermaker. It worked perfectly in marinas so polluted that you would need hospital treatment if you fell overboard. Your brown water is just silt - I wouldn't drink it but I doubt it would kill you.
These domestic RO units are very good, but have relatively high maintenance costs (filter cartridges and membranes) and the "under sink" versions only handle small volumes. A whole house unit would be very expensive.

Wasn't thinking of a whole house system, just an under kitchen sink system to prevent me having to carry heavy bottles of water as we don't have a car and I rely on bringing water from the supermarket in my daughter's car but locally have to carry it about 2-300 yards and up 6 steps to the kitchen, so would like not to have to buy bottles of water forever as I am in my 70's:D I believe the cartridges have to be purchased every 12 months and the system has to be cleaned out but what is the alternative, plus it has the advantage that if you are in a hard water area like we are, scaling kettles have to be descaled every couple of weeks!El Cid wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:11 pm Reverse Osmosis is what they use to desalinate sea water or any water for that matter. Re: Water Filter Osmosis Treatment Kits
I wasn’t suggesting a whole house unit, just pointing out that the output of an under-sink unit is low. We are on agricultural water, but we don’t drink it. It’s actually very clean, but that can change on the next refill, so we buy bottled water. It’s so cheap that we haven’t bothered with a filter system. We do have a whole-house water softener, though. Brita-type water filters are pretty good for drinking water. We just get the cheap stuff from Mercadona and have a big delivery when we run out. They carry it up the steps, so the small delivery charge is worth it.

It's not just the cost and carrying or having delivered heavy water bottles but the amount of plastic waste it generates too.El Cid wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:13 pm I wasn’t suggesting a whole house unit, just pointing out that the output of an under-sink unit is low.
