Postby Alan-LaCala » Sat Aug 12, 2006 6:54 pm

Out of curiousity, what temperature do people keep their air con at?

Have been told to try and keep it between 23 and 25 if 30 ish outside.

Wife likes indoor temp at 22 but noticed she found it more difficult to go outside than previous years during these very hot days so I set all aircons, including her car to 23.5 and she did not notice for days.

Artucle in Diario sur this week recommends 24C as they say that there are many complaints of rhinitus, sore throats, laryingitus etc due to the large temperature change if set too low. I find if its too low it seems unbearable when you first go outside, like a sauna.

Only have aircon in the bedrooms and in the car.
Set bedroom one to 23C and tend to have car one lower at around 19C mainly because I find in the car the lower temperature combats the feeling of heat induced drowsiness.

In the car.........

On a slightly diferent tack - we have a Nissan TerranoII (spanish plates of course!) and the aircon is b****y useless! A few years ago we had a rental Nissan Almera in Florida, and that could freeze the cojones off the proverbial monkey, so Nissan must have the technology! Any other Terrano owners out there can tell me how good their aircon is please?
It is a 2003 car, so surely should not need regassing or whatever?
Experts, take one pace forward !

Rhinitus, sore throats, laryingitus and other health/medical complaints associated with air conditioning are due to the fact that the machines dry out the air and recirculate the same poor quality air without introducing fresh air from outside, not because of the temperature difference. I have a friend who gets very ill when exposed to traditional refrigerated air conditioning.

Since I gave up hope I feel much better!
