If there were yesterday, there don't seem to be today!

I flew from Paris to London Heathrow this morning and there appeared to be no additional restrictions on what people could take in their hand luggage. Passengers were boarding with phones, blackberries, bottles of water and even rucksacks. There was an enhanced security presence in and around the aircraft, but that was all.

Someone phoned Radio 5 Live today to say that his girlfriend was flying from Alicante to London today and had been allowed to keep all her belongings including phone and blackberry.

Restrictions on flights out of the UK are still as they were yesterday, but on the strength of the above, there appear to be few restrictions on inbound flights.

According to the Monarch website, it states all as Spanish Lad has already listed. Additionally, it says that you can't carry anything in your pockets. So I'll just have to tuck a couple of ciggies into my socks.

Hi

Just flown in from Heathrow to Gibraltar, Heathrow is still a nightmare. Got there at 4am this morning for a 6.50am flight, could not get into the terminal until 9am and eventually took off at 11am. They are not allowing anything apart from whats on the list, and that MUST be in the clear bags they are handing out, security is very tight and takes some time to get through.

As far as flying into the UK, as far as I am aware they are very strict if you are making an onward connection, and you will be searched again, but I don't think all flights from all country's are going to the same lengths as the UK operators.

Just be repaired for major delays as the whole system is jammed up!!

I dropped my sister off his morning..........Malaga to Birmingham. It took 10 minutes to book in (unbelieveable even at this time of year) and NO extra security checks. She took all the regular items in her hand luggage!

There did however seem to be rather more police/security etc

Regards

Mark

Husband arrived home tonight, on time. Gatwick to Malaga. No problems or delays anywhere. Everyone seemed to be aware of the security regulations and everything ran smoothly.

leaving Spain for the UK you can take hand luggage. The ban is only on leaving the UK or if you are transfering to a connecting flight to the states. You can also buy what you like once you are airside. No restrictions from duty free as you leave the uk

The threat level has now been downgraded from critical to severe.
There will be a joint UK/US annoucement Monday (14/8) at 0730 BST.

"The change in the threat level means the ban on taking hand luggage on to flights from the UK has been lifted, although some restrictions remain. "

Someone from BAA has just been interviewed on Radio 4 and says that the easing of the restriction on hand baggage at their airports will not be implemented until tomorrow morning because they cannot guarantee to be able to make sure that all of their security staff know.

If we know here in Spain how come security staff actually working at the airports don't?

The information received was that the bombers would be on flights from UK airports. Spain must consider that bombers wouldn't want to fly from Spanish airports. :o
