let me clarify what I mean by "solarium"

I am talking about a flat roof on a new build with perhaps a four foot wall around the edge.

The obvious response would be to fit a "gazebo" of some sort on the roof...........however.........make sure you have community permission before you make any changes, especially if there are any properties still to receive their certificate of first occupation!!

Also, be aware that a wooden structure will be EXPENSIVE!

Presumably the name "solarium" implies somewhere to enjoy the sun. So why not use it for that purpose. Provided it is not in a very exposed postion furnish it with a selection of suitable potted plants, some sunloungers, table and chairs etc. Some people might use it to dry their washing, perish the thought!!

Full blown Subbuteo pitch glued on to purpose built table with floodlights and terracing
Also I would like a 4 lane Scalextric circumnavigating it for half time entertainment.

I suggested this to Mrs. for our terrace but she told me to "get my coat"

I suggest it to you in the hope you have better luck

Put down some decking, some nice furniture from kettal, some potted plants, a pergola/gazebo, spa, pool table, outdoor television, telescope, barbecue, fridge, putting green, outdoor cooling and heating.

Hey, that sounds more like a solarium, think you would need permission for a spa and gazebo

If it is high enough, hold on to it, if the Spanish property bubble bursts you can rent it out to the suicidals, what a killing you will make when all the agents and property developers come handing you the keys to their 4 x 4s and their bags of black dosh.
If the bubble doe's not burst put a ramp up to it and wait for lemmings.

After the winds we had last week when my terrace furniture moved from Benalmadena to Estepona, you may want tothink very hard as to what you put on the roof. PS: Has anbody see two flower pots containing geraniums and a green plastic chair along the N340 anywhere?
