Spanish music

Well does anyone like Spanish non flamenco "pop" music???
Like ”un dia redondo” from La Guardia ..theme tune to Arrayan a daily progamme (like cross roads)on canal sur TV filmed in Malaga, Coin Alhaurin and coast.

I think the first time I fell in love with Spain or things Spanish was..........


two girls singing 'Yes sir, I can boogie' in the late 70's early 80's (if the memory is still ok) and I think they were called Bacarat.....

but it certainly could not be classed as Spanish music.....

gente, afraid that is just the sort of Spanish music that I really can´t stand. To me it´s depressing listening as it sounds and looks like the singers are in dire pain but then, dare I say it, I find flamenco music just the same!!
Give me Colinm´s "Yes sir, I can boogie" any day!l

Guess its a good thing for music that we don´t all have the same taste.

They were right fit, them two. One wore black, the other white. I think the follow was "Sorry I'm a lady" Since then Nada.

I downloaded a Linda Ronstadt Album which I had not heard of and it is excellent.

More Mexican I suppose than Spanish but not what I expected from Linda.

Going back to the Sevillanas, I would really like to find a book which gave the music and words to these street songs. By marrying up some of my interests (folk music and learning spanish) I was hoping to find another way to increase my knowledge of the language. Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction?

Buy a CD from Carrefour but check first that inside it has the "letras" (lyrics). The assistants will open them up for you if you smile and say it´s to help your Spanish, if not buy a cheap one. Otherwise google is good if you type in "sevillanas letras". It´s a great way to improve your Spanish.

Songs that you seemed to hear everywhere in the 70's in Spain, where
Una Paloma Blanca..I'm just a bird in the sky, is about all the words that I can remember...

And Y Viva Espana...by Sylvia ... something.?.. can't remember

And heard everywhere for the past 30 years ..The Birdie Song...not Spanish, but they seemed to love it here...by a Swiss Singer originally, if I remember correctly..
