A Jumbo Jet for 30 or Ryanair for 300?
Just watched Jonathan Ross Show last night and John Travolta was one of the guests.
He has been a qualified pilot for 25years and owns 2 Jumbo jets.
He flew over to England in one of them, and I think he said it can carry 30 people as the rest of the space has been made into bedrooms etc.
Got me thinking , is that very green, he is also a Scientologist, and one of their creeds is to help people in all kinds of ways, e.g. if there is a disaster somewhere in the world then they go and help out.
Anyway I just thought if he can fly a jumbo jet for just 30 people it makes me feel less guilty using Ryanair every 10 weeks, I'm sure it evens out somewhere.
Also just read Prince Charles is getting more stick for flying up to Scotland when he could have taken the train. He coud pogo-stick there for all I care, but he is always banging on about carbon emissions etc and then doing the exact opposite of what he says is so important.

I don't think he's got a 747, more like a 707 which used to belong to Qantas for whom he's done some promotional work. Given that aircraft emissions account for less than 3% of man made CO2, the whole 'planes are a bad thing' has been done to death by various governments keen to make a fast buck out of taxation.
I agree with that, but we still keep getting taxed more. I'm more furious about the latest rise in car tax for 4x4's, perhaps it might get the 'chelsea tractors' off the road in inner cities but what about people living in areas that depend on them for their livelihood, namely shepherds, midwives etc.
Is the government going to give them special dispensation, I think not?

Re Charles: Not so long ago he flew to the States with his entourage of fourteen. Presumably that includes the bloke who squeezes out the toothpaste on to his brush for him and other essential servants. They booked the whole of first class on the plane. Purpose of visit - to pick up a green award.

According to this Breiting ad I have here on the back of a magazine he is qualified to fly a 747-400 but doesn't mention whether he owns one though.
From Metro: "John reportedly owns five planes - a customised £2 million Boeing 707, three Gulfstream jets and a Lear jet."
And fom his website: http://www.travolta.com/biography.htm

I think they release methane which is a lot worse. There is an EU directive which I believe comes in force today saying that methane from cows will have to be trapped. They wanted to make it compulsory for all animals but they think it best to introduce gradually.costakid wrote:according to michael o'leary of ryanair cows emit more co2 than aircraft.
Farmers are in uproar because it's not cheap, they have to buy plastice bags which are tied to the cows behinds a bit like nappies
