One of our neighbours won't have to worry about irrigation for one of his olive trees or his algarrobo - they are both in his swimming pool........
When I tried to get a quote from Linea Directa when I first got my car here, I got put through to some American who cheerfully told me he doesn't drive and knows nothing about cars.....not very encouraging!
Is there an insurance firm here that offers a no-claims bonus, or is that purely UK? I think that full comp on a 2003 Terrano for a baby-boomer at 700-odd Euros is a tad high!

The Viñuela weather station web address is www.malagaweather.com

If you go to
http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstat ... =IMALAGAT1
You can view the historical data (I don't know if you can do that on the Malaga weather station page). It shows a gust of 72.5mph/116.7kph as the monthly high.

peteroldracer wrote:You have my sympathy, Sid. Sounds like a fantastic response from the Red Phone people - I would love it if you could keep us up to date with how the claim went, as my insurance with Zurich is due soon, and although I am nervous about change and have heard some poor reports re Linea Directa, maybe if they do their job well they would be worth a quote!
Peter - an update on the insurance claim.

The Seat was repaired OK with no problems from LD. They repaired quite a few pre-existing dents, total cost 2300 euros. The Montero had a 300 excess so I didn't claim as the repair was only 360.

The pergola damage took a little longer to sort out as Allianz wanted a couple of quotes. They also sent their "own" builder round but we didn't see their quote.

A couple of days later we found our bank account had been credited with 4300 euros which amply paid for the reconstruction. There was enough over to cover the 540 euros in excesses/repairs on the cars.

Sid - I am pleased it all went so well with LD - one major problem out here is the absolute certainty with which ex-pats talk fluent b0ll0cks - "such-and-such are hopeless"..."you don't need to change your Brit plates, just....." I am British so pay my taxes there...." etc.
I did change insurers, but to that nice man in Torrevieja, as discussed elsewhere on this site - saved myself nearly 200 €, so am happy that way, and hope never to have to find out what they are like to claim through..... :D

In the future, will it be "since MP3 downloads began"?
