boys on bikes

Postby Lavanda » Fri Aug 17, 2007 10:32 am

There seems to be nowhere in Spain that is not plagued by boys on loud motorbikes. If they want to ride without helmets and run the risk of brain death that's one thing but the noise concerns everyone. Is there no legal decibel limit to these things?

Yes there is and it will be about 90 decibels below my bike

Just for information naked flesh sliding along hard tarmac for every ten meters takes off one kilo of flesh from your body. That's why I wear racing boots, body armour, Kevlar jeans and full spec helmet!

See I am a sensible geezer!

boys on bikes

Doing my basic motorbike training ooh about 8 years ago and a girl came off her 50cc bike..hands straight down on the tarmac...and ripped open her gloves...makes my heart shudder when they zoom around wearing nothing to protect them. Do the parents not care either!!!

To be honest it seems to be part of the Mediterranean scene.......similar in Italy, Greece etc.
We bought our first place in a small town fully aware of the bikes.
It seems a bit off to moan about it later.......they were there first.

Bit like the people who have bought next to an airport or race track and complain about the noise

It did get to us after a while so we moved  to the campo.

I like the sound, it reminds me that I'm not in the UK and somewhere where people can still have fun.

Dealer, I don't wear any armour or protective gear, in fact since I stopped doing so I have not crashed, I used to crash regularly before and the cause was feeling invincible in armour. This was in the UK, here, if I had to get fully togged up before riding, well, I just couldn't be bothered to ride.

I see the police set a fine example by riding in nylon short sleeved shirts, cotton trousers and "normal" shoes.

I don't notice them myself - the noise is here and gone so quickly as they seem to ride past at 120kms an hour - but it drives my husband bonkers. Is it a 'man thing'.

PS Don't get the Errol Flynn bit - is it RUDE?

My son had an accident a few years ago in u.k...he was on his souped up ped and came a cropper round a bend, ...losing his footwear and plenty of flesh from his big toe. A sweet young thing of about the same age filmed most of it on her phone, including the blood and gore.
Three weeks of daily dressing by district nurse and a good telling off and the ped was history and a nice safe r.s turbo Fiesta arrives on the drive.
Kids.!!!!

There's a big difference between a decent sounding engine and the sound of a tiny two stroke which really winds me up. They sound like a rat having its balls squeezed until they puncture.
