Noisy Dogs
I hardly think it likely that anyone on here is going to poison dog owners. But as a "broad statement" in defence of dogs who didn't ask to be adopted into families that don't give a t*ss about the said dog or other people, I see it as preferable to harming innocent dogs.frank wrote:Some typical dog lover's opinions here advocating that some person, for simply failing to train their dog, should be poisoned. Nice balanced view. Some of you would make Torquemada look like a nice guy.
Untrained dogs are no different to the yobs you refer to, they are in families that take no interest or responsibility. Are the families (in most cases) not responsible for teenagers etc that cause no end of nusiance and more to people? What would you suggest is done with them?
Dog owners have a resposibility, first and foremost to the dog. I wholly blame the owners, many of us have dogs and know that they should be a cared for and wanted addition to the family. Not something left alone unhappy, uncared for and as a result of that causing nuisance to other people.

It was the dog haters who first mentioned the use of poison, some of whom now claim to have only been joking, so I hope we can take it that nobody contributing here would actually resort to such a loathsome action, although it's a known fact that many Spaniards do. The point that those who are able to still think with a clear head are trying to make (unlike those who have obviously had too much wine & weed) is that people should be held accountable & take responsibilty for their own actions. And that includes ensuring that your dog is properly trained. If you are not willing to accept that dog ownership is a responsibilty - don't own one. Thank you Campo Kenny for probably the best comment so far. Let's end this thread. That's all from me.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

As a dog owner I have read this thread and truly sympathise with those of you who are having your lives ruined by this form or noise nuisance. I do stop my dogs from barking, they obviously bark at the postman or someone walking past, it is just their way of letting people know that they are there, this is their house etc. I would never let them continue with it under any circumstances, and I live in the campo and my nearest neighbours are a good 200m away and they have dogs that bark a lot.
I know I have read a thread very similar to this one, but on another forum, and whilst many of the suggestions were made, ie; the sonic devices, water pistols etc if I remember correctly these were not acceptable solutions for the person involved. I seem to remember that one poster gave a solution which worked in this case, however it did sound very far fetched and most who viewed the thread dismissed it out of hand....until it actually worked.
I seem to remember that this technique had been used by a dog trainer who specialised in animal behaviour problems, but I am a little vague so cannot be precise. Upshot was the people obtained a recording of a lion or some big cat growling, and the played this very loudly in the direction of the barking and continued to do this whenever the dog/dogs barked. I do not think it was an overnight success but over time it did work. I have a had a quick search of the net but cannot find that particular post nor can I find any other information, however some one else might have better success. Failing that I have a link to a site which may or may not offer some other or better solutions. One site I did look at did stress that you should not shoot the dog Easy to say
Anyway here is the link to the site I mentioned and I hope those of you who are being disturbed find a solution

Then people would be complaining about lions keeping them awake all night! Personally, I don't have a problem here in UK, never ever hear any dogs at night! Or lions come to that. But I have suffered in Spain a lot, and those that have to live with it every day have my sympathy.Upshot was the people obtained a recording of a lion or some big cat growling

I bought one of these ultrasonic dog repellents, attached an extra loudspeaker and enjoyed to see it work!
My neighbour across the street has three large barking dogs and one howling husky. The distance to those beasts was abt 10 metres and they backed off almost immediately when I turned on the contraption. Hanging their heads they retreated and the barking stopped in less that 30 seconds.
This is fun! Revenge after five years...
