Hi all,
I'm trying to find the right product for some exterior brickwork pointing repairs, and also grouting between outdoor pathway tiles (large gaps around 25mm).
What we in the UK would refer to as mortar, seems to generally be used for laying floor tiles, or plastering walls in Spain...
The pointing that I'm looking to repair has a rougher texture than in the UK, I've searched here and seen it referred to as 'arena'. And on the Leroy Merlin website I can filter the types of sand by extra fine, fine, medium etc.
My questions are:
Ideally as I only have a smallish amount to do, I want to buy bags of 'ready mix'. Is there likely to be a standard and common product that is used widely? If so what? I've found this, but will this be more like a concrete mix with larger stones?
https://www.leroymerlin.es/productos/co ... 28958.html
If I buy the sand and cement separately, can you suggest the right products? Ideally from Leroy Merlin as it's local...
Pic of how it looks, sorry it's not a bit closer:
Thanks

Re: Concrete/Mortar for brickwork repairs etc
I think that is just cement in the link which you should be able to buy in your local buildings material suppliers as well. When we've bought it it is a fine powder. We've managed to buy sand (arena) from our building materials yard by the bucket load and they've had fine or course. We've put a builder's bag in the back of the car and put a few bucket loads in and they've charged us a few euros. Then we have just mixed up small loads in the wheelbarrow for small jobs like securing a few loose tiles or building a small wall.
Re: Concrete/Mortar for brickwork repairs etc
Havent been to Leroy for ages . On the same industrial estate near the airport, thereis a Brico Depot and I would expect them to sell dry mix mortar in sacks ( 15 or more likely 25 kg) . My local builders merchant does. About 3 euros a sack.
Colour atch of the dry mortar might be a small issue. We have found over the years that the colour of cement powder changes randomly. Very irritating when trying to do matching rear work

Thanks very much Wicksey and olive.
I've noticed the Brico Depot before, will pop in there at some point, as well as finding a builders merchant closer to me.
Leroy/Brico handy as they're near the airport.

Brico does river sand in 25kg bags which we have found ideal. My OH has a few small bags of mortar colouring which he uses to find a match to existing work.
