Wild Fires

Postby El Cid » Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:56 pm

There seems to be a spate of fires today. 5 within 50km. We have had two locally. One very big one a few km away and a smaller one about 2km away. It’s been like London Airport this morning. Apparently 9 planes and 6 choppers and 160 firemen. It all seems to be under control now. There is a brilliant app called Wildfire Watch. It can be set up to notify you of any reported fires within whatever radius you choose. INFOCA post all the official updates and progress reports users can post their own photos and comments

If have any concerns about fire in your area it’s essential. It will give you the earliest warning possible.

I have that app and received information about that big fire, so wondered if it was close to you, Sid. We could smell the smoke from it this morning very strongly.

When we were in the Alpujarras last month there was a fire down the valley and you could see the smoke and the helicopters attending it. The app is good as it gives you details of how many firemen and planes etc are attending, and they also post videos of it too.

Thanks for the info on the app. I've downloaded it.
