Skip hire advice

Postby carl69g » Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:10 pm

Afternoon all.
Could anyone please tell me, If I hire a skip, what are the restrictions on what I can put in it? I would like to get rid of a bathroom suite (including bath), tiles, rubble, a little timber and garden vegetation. Would I need a permit and if so do the skip hire organise this?
Not sure if it makes a difference but I am in the campo above Sayalonga.
Many thanks

Judging by what we see in skips on the Costa, I don't think there are any restrictions to putting in builders rubble as that's what they are usually overflowing with. Years back our builder organised one for us, and being in the campo it simply was delivered onto our land. Our neighbours have been having buildng work done and his also has sat on his driveway, so I don't think a licence is needed when it's on private land. The construction materials yards around here are the ones that have provided the skips. I'm not sure there are dedicated skip companies like in the UK.

We had one on our land, no licence needed. There were restrictions, builders rubble only, no metal etc.I think it is best to speak to the skip hire company and tell them what it is you wish to dispose of, there could be different rates for having mixed items.

Ours doesn't allow rubble and vegetation in the same skip

Thank you all for the replies. We had one delivered this morning which was organised by the estate agents that sold us the house. They stated mixed waste is fine...........we shall see.....watch this space.
