Malaga Declared Historic Site
The Junta de Andalucía has declared the city centre of Málaga to be a conjunto histórico, inscribing it in the Catálogo General del Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz — the General Catalogue of Historic Andalusian Heritage.

The protected area spans 163 hectares and covers three millennia of history, from the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC to the Romans, Moors and Catholic Monarchs.

Among the many historic monuments in Málaga are the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro fortresses, the Cathedral, the Customs House, the Jewish quarter, the Hospital San Lázaro, the Convento Trinitarios Descalzados, the Bishop's Palace, and the Teatro Cervantes.
