Collegium Musicum

The Choir and Orchestra "Collegium Musicum" Costa del Sol was founded in 1975 by a few music lovers who were based on the Costa del Sol coast. It has grown year on year; and today they are a flourishing international society that reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the Costa del Sol with over 100 singers and instrumentalists from some 20 nationalities. They are directed by Annemarie Philipps, violin and viola player, who used to be a member of the Malaga Symphony Orchestra.

Their popular concerts are held twice yearly, in May and at Christmas time, one performance is always in Marbella and the others somewhere on the Costa del Sol.

Though Collegium Musicum collaborates with the local Town Halls it receives no official help. The Association is funded by the annual subscriptions paid by its active members and annual donations from its founders and life members. All of which goes towards the cost of running what is now a veritable music company whose series of concerts during the year give so much pleasure to music lovers along the Costa del Sol. The Spring concert in Marbella in the Encarnacion Church is in aid of Concordia, the local charity association dedicated to helping AIDS sufferers.

Rehearsals take place in Los Boliches, Fuengirola every Tuesday evening from September to May in the Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter Day Saints to whom they are most grateful for their hospitality.

Choir and orchestra Collegium Musicum will always welcome new members, especially string players and singers with a little bit of experience. No audition is necessary, just come by. Anyone interested should contact Annemarie on mobile  659 111 526 or email [email protected]. More information on the association is available on their website www.colmus.org or on facebook.
