After two high profile editions the Cala Mijas festival promoters, Last Tour announced the cancellation of the Cala Mijas Festival 2024 on the 26th April 2024. The dates for 2024, published immediately after the 2023 festival were 28th to 30th August 2024. No artists had been announced and ticket sales had not commenced.
The La Cala de Mijas fair will take place from Tuesday 21st to Sunday 26th July 2026.
The Virgen del Carmen will be carried on the shoulders of the strong men of the parish in the direction of the beach. The procession will depart the church at 20:45 hours after the 20:00 mass at the parish church of Santa Teresa de Jesús.

Venta Butibama at La Cala de Mijas is a good place to go for a typical roadside Venta oe Café/Restaurant. It is very popular and has a long and distinguished history. Today, the coastal road runs alongside it and thousands of cars pass by every hour. Some will remember when the Venta Butibamba was actually on the old coastal road and when it was an obligatory stop for those driving past.
Cala Mijas Festival, Day 3 Saturday was headlined by Florence and the Machine. Florence was barefoot and clad in a long, sparkly, copper gown with a flowing cape to match.
Day two of Cala Mijas began in 'La Playa' (La Cala de Mijas village), where a showcase of free-to-watch performances took place for the public and ticket holders to enjoy. Small stages were set up by Torre de la Bateria; El Torreón stage hosted small live bands such as Lord Malco.
Vera Fauna kicked off Cala Mijas festival on Thursday evening, over on the Sunset stage, cast away in the shade. The four piece band from Seville drew a pleasant sized crowd for the first band of the day. Their melodic summer tunes set the tone of the festival nicely.
The first edition of the music festival in 2022 welcomed headline shows from the Arctic Monkeys, where they showcased their most recent album The Car, ahead of its release in October later that year. It was recently announced that the 2023 Iberian Festival Awards awarded Cala Mijas the Best Live Performance award for the Sheffield band’s show at their 2022 edition, as well as winning the award for Best New Festival.
