Rute

The tourist office in Rute is located in the Parque Nuestra Señora del Carmen, a pleasant green space which sits on the western side of the town. The park is the largest and most important in the town, housing not only the tourist office but also an open-air theatre space, a charming fish pond and a children's play area.

Festivals in Rute: Cabalgata de Reyes Magos, Carnaval, Semana Santa, San Marcos, Fiesta en Honor a la Virgen de la Cabeza y Romeria, Fiestas Patronales and Feria Real.

Rute overlooks the Iznájar reservoir, and is dwarfed by the Sierra de Rute that looms above it. It is best known for manufacturing aguardiente de anís, an aniseed-flavoured liqueur, the industry for which has been thriving here since the nineteenth century. It has around 9800 inhabitants.
