Its urban centre, which was declared a Historical and Artistic Site, is crowned by an impressive castle of Muslim origin remodelled during the Christian era, which has the category of National Monument. Just behind the castle you can also see the so-called Torre del Agua, a watchtower-type tower similar to the Torre del Espolón that is also found in the municipality of Segura de la Sierra. It has about 1800 inhabitants.

Hornos

Despite some recent construction around the village, the view of Hornos del Segura from afar remains spectacular. The ancient wall of this former Arab fortress stands almost intact, and the village is crowned by a castle with tower. There are numerous fantastic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding Sierra de Cazorla Natural Park. It has about 600 inhabitants.

History - Siles

The exact date of origin for the town is unknown, however records state it was won from the Moors by Don Pelay Pérez Correa and that another Master of SantiagoDon Lorenzo Alvarez de Figueroa, gave it to the privilege of villazgo at the beginning of the fourteenth century, later confirmed by Felipe II.

History - Puente de Génave

History - Puente de Génave

The town has very different origins and history than the rest of the province. The decision was made to build a road that linked Jaén with Albacete and as part of it, a bridge, the “new bridge”, was completed in 1889. This signified the birth of the town and it was accompanied by immense growth, such that in less than 50 years, it was already a municipality, thus becoming the only town in Jaén of the twentieth century.
