Puente Antiguo

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Granada was experiencing growth, making it necessary to establish new communication routes. Bridle paths had to be replaced with roads that could accommodate carriages. It was decided that the section of the royal road through the Alpujarra, passing through Dúrcal, Talará, Béznar and Izbor, should be used to reach Motril. However, the royal road to Motril passed through Restábal and Pinos del Rey.

Districts

Like all towns of its dimensions, Fuengirola has commonly known districts, which are handy as landmarks and reference when getting around: El Centro (The heart of the centre of Fuengirola is the Plaza de la Constitución), Los Boliches (Los Boliches is the seafront area to the eastern side of Fuengirola centre).

Families in Andalucia

Torre de Cárdenas

This is an important military structure bordering the outskirts of the city. It is a type of coastal tower building, cylindrical in shape, which was built in the sixteenth century. At present, it is in a good state of conservation, after a restoration carried out in recent years. Located on the N-340a.

Malaga city Bus service

The main bus and coach station is located just to the west of the centre of town, next to the Train Station. There are also coaches from here to Costa del Sol and Andalucia.

Weather

Bubión sits halfway between Capileira and Pampaneira in the Poqueira gorge, surrounded by magnificent views of the often, snow-capped Sierra Nevada peaks and the Alpujarras.

Insuring a Car

All risk "todo riesgo" car insurance will cost between 1.000 euros to 2.000 euros per year for a small car. Third party insurance is the legal minimum and will cost about 400 euros per year. It will cover you for claims by third parties up to 360.000 euros, for injury and 100.000 euros for damage. It does not cover you or your car, only third parties up to the maximum limits stated.

The Interpretation Centre provides visitors with detailed scientific information about the exceptional paleontological heritage of Almería through a chronological series of exhibitions, starting with the origin of the universe, and covering the formation of our planet, the evolution of living beings and contemporary biodiversity. The exhibition space has four rooms with different themes relating to “what the fossils of Almeria inform us", and also has an audiovisual projection room. Located on Calle Pintor Velázquez.

Ceuta See & Do - Museum of the Legion

When it was first created in 1940, the Legion Museum was in a barracks room of the 2nd Legion Tercio in Morocco, but due to the country's independence in 1956 the Tercio was transferred and along with it the museum. It records historical testimonies of this elite unit that was founded in Ceuta in 1920 by Millan Astray. In addition to banners, uniforms, photographs and weapons, a portrait of Millan Astray was painted by Ignacio Zuloaga and a propaganda poster painted for the Legion by Mariano Bertuchi in 1925.
