Great news once again for Andalucia.com!
Andalucia.com has been named Communicator of the Year 2009 by the Costa Press Club. The award comes just months after the company was declared “Business of the Year” by the Junta de Andalucia’s Innovation Ministry at the Costa del Sol’s 2008 Foreign Business Awards.
The company received the recognition in an award ceremony held at El Fogon Restaurant in La Cala de Mijas on Thursday, March 12. Chris Chaplow, managing director of Andalucia.com says, “It’s always great to receive an award, but especially by a media organisation and fellow peers.” The Costa Press Club represents those working in the foreign language media on the Costa del Sol.
Chris Chaplow recognises that his company has received this award “for communicating to millions online around the world and also for the effort involved in keeping thousands of web pages as up to date as possible.”
In 2008 alone, five million people from around the world visited www.andalucia.com. Today over 5,000 pages of information and photographs are provided by specialist journalists and photographers to attract nearly half a million visitors every month. The site has 27,000 inbound links from other websites and 600 current advertisers who depend on this reliable, proven platform to reach the world.
In response to queries regarding plans for the coming year, Chris Chaplow says, “Our main aim is to upgrade Andalucia.com’s 5,000 pages to the latest, state-of-the-art Internet platform called “Drupal”. This is a project that will take at least one year and will create countless new opportunities to communicate about Andalucia and promote businesses from this area to visitors around the world.”
The runner up for Communicator of the Year was David Baird with Joan Hunt receiving an Honorary Mention.
