Palacio del Condestable Iranzo
The house was acquired by Don Miguel Lucas de Iranzo and became his place of residence in 1462. He carried out extensive works that completely transformed it into a sumptuous Mudejar palace. When the Constable died in 1473, the house passed to the Marquis of Villardompardo, and later his heirs, until it came into the possession of the Marquis of Bélgida, who substantially modified it. In 1805 He sold off a part to Don Fernando de Aranda.
Despite the nineteenth century modifications, the building has still conserved elements of its earlier splendor.
During the second half of the nineteenth century, the building underwent another transformation, with the addition of a theatre, further rooms and the popular Casino Primitivo. In 1892 the palace was acquired by the architect, Justino Flores Llamas, who in 1919 sold the main part of the palace to the Casino Primitivo, which again underwent new works in 1928 that notably altered its appearance.
Its interior decoration reflects historical taste over the years with stuccoes of rosettes and garlands especially evident in the ballroom which is now the Public Library. Jaén City Council reunited the building by acquiring the cinema in 1985, which it returned to a theatre.
