As May arrives in Málaga, the city prepares for two important dates on the cultural calendar: La Noche en Blanco (The White Night) and International Museum Day.
This year, many of the city’s cultural institutions, including the world renowned Museo Picasso Málaga, are opening their doors for free, to celebrate both La Noche en Blanco on Saturday 16 May, and International Museum Day on Monday 18 May.
Here is everything you need to know about these upcoming celebrations:
What is ‘La Noche en Blanco?’
Imagine a night where the sun goes down, but the city wakes up. La Noche en Blanco is an annual cultural initiative where museums, galleries, and historic sites stay open late into the night, offering free entry and hosting special performances. It is a flagship event for Málaga, inviting locals and tourists to celebrate art and heritage in a festive, nocturnal atmosphere.
The 2026 Theme: ‘Málaga, the future is written with music’
This year marks the 17th edition of the event, and the theme is Music. Under the slogan ‘Málaga, the future is written with music,’ the city will celebrate music as a universal language.
