Torre del Bordonal

Torre del Bordonal

This is a Nasrid-era farmhouse tower. It is prismatic in shape, with a rectangular floor plan measuring 5.50 x 4.00 metres. It is built using rammed earth and lime walls ranging in thickness from 85 cm to 1.05 m, which are harder and of better quality in the lower sections. The formwork is 80 cm high and remnants of the lime plaster are still visible.

The interior dimensions of the ground-floor room, the only one that can be measured, are 3.40 x 2.30 metres. There are no apparent interior traces of floors separating the tower's different levels, nor of any exterior openings. The highest preserved point is 9.50 metres at the south-west corner.

A large quantity of surface pottery, as well as fragments of bricks and tiles, has been found throughout the surrounding area, corresponding to the farmhouse of the same name that once stood on this site.

It is located southwest of the town.
