Casa-Museo natal Federico García Lorca
Federico García Lorca’s birthplace is a typical farmhouse, like many others found in any village in the Granada plains. Built in 1880, when Federico García Rodríguez married his first wife, Matilde Palacios, it is here that Federico was born on June 5, 1898. It is the place where he spent his early childhood, which so profoundly influenced his sensibilities. Fifty years after García Lorca’s execution, this house where he was born was opened to the public on June 4, 1986. Since then, this family home has become an essential destination for those who wish to explore not only the landscape of this unique creator, but also his manuscripts, correspondence with many of his friends, drawings by him and his contemporaries. The significance of this house-museum is to keep his memory alive and to turn it into a space from which the emotion of remembrance begins, his ideology is nurtured, and his figure is projected.
Located on Calle Poeta García Lorca.
