Ízbor

Izbor

Ïzbor is one of three villages that were joined together in 1976 to be part of a single municipality called El Pinar. The other two were Pinos del Valle, the 'capital' where the town hall office is located and Acebuches village.

Ízbor is also the name of the river which flows through the ravine.

In the Ízbor area, visit the Iglesia de la Purísima Concepción, in the middle of the hamlet. With one nave and a tower, in the oldest part of the church you can see part of the mosque structure upon which it was built.

Also of interest are five bridges, ancient, old, new and modern that cross the river near the village. The oldest is of roman origin and only foundations remain. The second is a stone arch dating to the 18th centtury. The third is an iron bridge dating to 1910. The fourth is a modern road bridge dating to 1990. The fifth is the A-44 viaduuct consturced in 2006.

GASTRONOMY
