The best funk festival in Spain is held every year over two or three days at the end of July in the village of Pozo Alcón in the Sierra de Cazola. (It used to be held in Torres in the Sierra Magina). Previous dates were 2023, 2nd and 3rd August 2024, 28th and 29th July 2023. Two top bands perform each night and DJs play until dawn. The first edition took place in 2008. There is a large camping area in this beautiful rural setting.

The British band The Filthy Six and D'Local Groove from the Canary Islands closed the line-up for Imagina Funk #TAKE16, which took place in Pozo Alcón (Sierra de Cazorla, Jaén) on 1, 2 and 3 August 2024. A brilliant line-up that also included the Japanese Osaka Monaurail, the New Yorkers York Tortured Soul and great national acts such as Shake, Tito Ramírez and Espidifunk. Seven great bands that stand out in a wider programme (DJs, jam sessions, pool parties, etc.) that will allow the province of Jaén to be one more year the great stage for black music in festival format in Southern Europe.
The line-up that had already aroused enormous interest was the presence of two other formidable international artists, such as Osaka Monaurail (Osaka, Japan) and Tortured Soul (New York, United States).
D'Local Groove joins the list of national bands, which also includes Tiro Ramírez and Shake. The Canary Islanders will delight the audience at Imagina Funk with their very urban approach, tinged with neo-soul, R&B, reggae, funk and blues. 2024 line-up includes the presence of Espidifunk, as the winning group of the band competition held in the 2023 edition.
Friday 2 August 2024, the festival starts with a fun Pool Party in the Municipal Swimming Pool (17.00 hours) with DJ Lajefah. In the evening, on the Main Stage (from 22.30), there will be performances by Shake, The Filthy Six and Osaka Mourarail, with DJ Gssu Yess closing the night.
On Saturday 3 October 2024 the activities will begin after midday, in the Enchanted Forest of the Higueras de Peralta (13.00 to 19.00), where the Imagina Funk faithful will enjoy DJs Lajefah and Chuck Black, as well as the traditional Imagina Jam Session. In the evening, on the Main Stage (from 22.00 hours), it will be time to enjoy the night's concerts again, with Espidifunk, D'Local Groove, Tito Ramírez, Tortured Soul; and the evening will be closed by DJ Mr Paradise.
Tickets are available through the Wegow platform: two-day season tickets (40 euros) and one-day tickets (25 euros per day).
History
The 2023 edition was called Take #15 and took place n 28th and 29th July 2023. Osaka Mounrail (Tokyo), Mop Mop feat Anthony Joseph (Italy and Trinidad and Tobago) and Omar (UK) are the first confirmations. This year the frestival has moved from Torres in the Sierra Magina to Pozo Alcón in the Sierra de Carzola, Jaén. Tickets on the day are 50€ for access to the concerts on both days and 30€ for either day.
The festival was held up to 2022 in the Sierra Magina area village of Torres in Jaen Province.
2022 edition was called Take #14 and dates were 29th eand 30th July. Artists included O'funk'illo, Joel Sarakula, Martha High (cancelled), DjToner, TT Syndicate, Afro Social Club, Paradise Phantoms, Wasabi Cru, Zingabeat, Dj Fonki Cheff. Tickets were 45€ for access to the concerts on both days and 30€ for either day. Concerts and camping fee was 60€.
2019 dates were 25th, 26th and 27th July 2019 and 2020 was cancelled. 2021 dates were 30th and 31st July 2021. Artists performed in 2021 included Fernando Lamadrid, Watch out, Shirley Davis and the Silverbacks, Lehmanns Brothers. there was no camping in 2021, accomodation was in hotels and rural houses.
