CASA DE LOS CHACÓN (Town Hall)

Casa de los Chacón (Town Hall)

The house of the Chacón family is a large noble building that, according to tradition, was owned by Aben Jaguar, uncle of Aben Humeya. Later, after several occupations and restorations, in the eighteenth century it was given a Baroque character, suffering great deterioration in the Spanish Civil War. It is a palatial building on three levels. The highest part would be used as a pantry and storage, the middle floor would be the family’s living area, while the lower part would have a hall. The rear of the building has a patio with a fountain in the centre and remains of columns that would support a roof. On the outside we find a façade built with projecting bricks and different balconies. It is currently the Town Hall. Located in Plaza de España.
