Ayamonte is situated on the estuary of the Río Guadiana, second longest river in Andalucia. Ayamonte's development has been inextricably linked to its position on the border with Portugal and has more foreign tourists than other locations on the Costa de la Luz, partly due to its proximity to the Algarve and its position far west on the Andalusian coast. It has about 19, 600 inhabitants.
The marshlands of this area bordering Portugal have been well integrated into the second 18-hole course at Costa Esuri, giving it added difficulty but providing a magnificent setting with views of the town of Ayamonte and towards the Atlantic Ocean. Slightly shorter, though somewhat more technical than the West Course, one of the main challenges here for all players lies in the sloping greens and dog-leg fairways.
This course opened in 2006. It is situated in a very beautiful area overlooking the River Guadiana which forms the border with Portugal.
The Parador de Ayamonte enjoys superb views of the river Guadiana and the Algarve. It has a seasonal swimming pool and a restaurant. Rooms have views over the river, the garden or the swimming pool.
