This modern theatre was opened on the 23rd March 2015. It has an auditorium for 600 seated spectators and a second meeting room for 100 persons. It provides latest a udio visual features.

The theatre was designed with international conferences in mind and has facilities for simultaneous interpretation in four languages.

The seating is comfortable and tiuered to provide a good view of the stage. The legroom is ample so that people can pass through from the outside to the to the centre of the row with ease. The air conditioning has received mixed reports on social media.

There is a also a café bar and exhibition area.

The Plaza along side the theatre has been named Plaza Ignacio Mena in memory of long serving Estepona town councilor who died suddenly on 6nd  August 2016.

The theatre has been the venue notable performances by Malaga Filarmónic Orchestra, Nina Pastori, Callum and Daniel Casares live recording of Magiterraneo (31-05-2019). It is also the venue for the annual ‘Torre Almenara' prize-giving.

The theatre is located at the head of its own access road off Avenida J Martin Mendez, near the roundabout at the top of Avenida Juan Carlos II near the Feria Ground and Football stadium. If arriving from outside Estepona take exit 155 on the A-7. There is ample parking in car park at the theatre and overflow on the theatre access road.

In August 2018 the Estepona Town Hall announced that it was severing the management contract with second company. The third management company was appointed and announced in March 2019 along with a wide selection of performances for the 2019 spring and summer season. A new brand and logo 'TAF' was also launched as an anagram for Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI.
