Enrique Morente
Born with impeccable flamenco credentials in the former gypsy barrio of the Albayzin in Granada, singer Morente has taken flamenco further than any others, into jazz, classical, experimental and rock forms. (His collaboration with Lagartija Nick, ‘Omega’, also includes his versions of certain favourite Leonard Cohen songs.) A long-time collaborator with Pepe Habichuela and Tomatito, he has also worked on theatre, dance and film projects, as well as a flamenco mass.
