La Siesta is a purpose-built golf course located in Calahonda. Although a private club, visitors are welcome.

Enrique Canales designed the course, which presents the variety of a much longer course. The 7th hole may require a wood to reach the green. After your round enjoy the sea views from the clubhouse.

Puente Genil

The town of Puente Genil owes its name to the bridge that was constructed over the Genil River in the sixteenth century. A later bridge was constructed by Hernán Ruiz. Today it has about 30,200 inhabitants.

Beach Barbeque

In Estepona, at either end of the Playa La Rada, you can find a number of fishing boats filled with sand which are used for moragas. A moraga is a night-time barbeque party, usually held on the beach. It is traditional to Malaga province, but is also found in other parts of Andalucia. A moraga is differentiated from a barbeque in that the food being cooked is an espeto of sardines.

History of Gor

Human settlements in this area date back to Neanderthal times, as evidenced by the remains at Peña del Escarmiento. There are also Neolithic remains at Las Angosturas. At Cortijo Colorado, the remains of Iberian, Roman and Byzantine settlements can be seen. Moors and, later, Christians also occupied these lands.

El Ronquillo

El Ronquillo takes its name from the proprietor who, in the fifteenth century, made two roadside cafes/bars that made the foundations for the municipality. It has been awarded the Nacional de Embellecimiento Municipal (National Municipal Beauty) prize several times, but the town centre now has the N-630 roadway crossing it from North to South. It has about 1400 inhabitants.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera, the plant, grows well in Andalucia and you will find it in many gardens and households. As in many other parts of the world, aloe vera is known in southern Spain for its curative effects in the case of injury and illness.

There are immigration control points at all Airports and Seaports for those entering Spain from non-Schengen locations. Immigration control is the responsibility of the National Police, separately Customs is the responsibility of the Guardia Civil.
