Teba

High on a rocky saddle in the mountains east of Ronda, some 15km north of Ardales, the small (pop: 4,000) town of Teba has one of the most extraordinary historical connections of any of Andalucía's pueblos. Ermita de San Antonio de Padua

The Chapel of San Antonio is a unique construction. According to local legend, an agreement was reached with the neighboring municipality of Lucainena de las Torres to take the icon of the saint from the chapel of origin to Lucainena.

Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias

The chronicles mention a chapel located next to the Barranco de la Fuente Agria as early as the eighteenth century. The chapel has undergone several renovations. Rebuilt in the 1970s, it now has a very simple appearance and stands out for its sobriety in the Fuente Agria Natural Site, surrounded by centuries-old chestnut trees and with a spring at its feet. It is located off the A-4132.

Jimena de la Frontera - Laja Alta Cave

Located outside of the village of Jimena de la Frontera, within the Alcornocales Natural Park, is a collection of prehistoric cave paintings which are very early examples of art in southern Spain. These are referred to by locals as La Cueva de la Laja Alta (High Stone Slab Cave).

FYI: Suitable sturdy walking boots and walking apparel are recommended for the route up to the cave. If attempting the walk in winter (e.g. October – April), wellington boots are advised, particularly when walking the route on or after rainy days.

Playa de Cortijo Blanco

Playa de Cortijo Blanco lies at the east end continuationi of the long Playa de San Pedro de Alcantara. The beach is approximately 500m long and wide and forms a slight headland. It is backed by the mature Urbanisation Cortijo Blanco.
