Maro is a tiny hamlet to the east of Nerja. It clings to the steep hilside overlooking the sea. It is the most easterly village of Malaga province and the Costa del Sol sitting on the border of Granada province and the Costa Tropical and Almunecar.
It is perhaps best know for the the unspoilt beches nearby. One is called Playa Maro and is often recorded in the media as one of the best beaches in Spain.
The beaches and cliffs here are protected as part of the 'Alcantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Area'.
