Located next to the popular Marbella and Puerto Banús, San Pedro offers a more authentic option for those who want to integrate into Spanish culture a bit more during their holiday. Surrounded by golf courses, the beach and close to towns such as Ronda, it is no surprise that San Pedro has always been a popular summer resort.
San Pedro offers a variety of hostals (Spanish Guesthouses) both in the centre of town and on the outskirts and all come at a reasonable price. These are perfect for those who do not want to spend a lot of money on a hotel or for those who are just passing through the area. They all provide comfortable and clean accommodation at a cheaper price.
San Pedro lies in a great position, just a short drive away from the well-known Marbella and the luxurious Puerto Banús, surrounded by the luxury golf courses of Malaga. It has a fantastic beach with an inviting promenade, accompanied by some quality restaurants giving great sea views.
The major international car rental companies have offices in most Andalucian cities and at the airports such as Málaga Airport, Seville, Jerez. The smaller local car rental companies tend to be less expensive. It's advisable to reserve a rental car online before arriving, particularly during peak periods. On arrival follow the instructions in your rental confirmation.
Neighbouring the well-heeled Puerto Banús, San Pedro de Alcántara is a pretty village with independent shops and bars. A palm-lined avenue called the Avenida del Marques del Duero leads to the beaches and several chiringuitos (beach-side restaurants).
Marbella Wakeboard center ( was called Cable Ski Marbella) offers a unique water sport experience to young and old. Beginner to Advanced can have fun and a sense of achievement through a well designed and safe activity. Various equipment is provided, ranging from beginner’s kneeboards to the more advanced wakeboards and water skis for the extreme wake boarder and water-skier.
Arte Sano Festival is the biggest free alternative festival on the Costa del Sol, and takes place on the last weekend in July on San Pedro Alcántara seafront. After 15 years, Arte Sano has established itself as a showcase for contemporary natural health, artistic expression, movement, dance and personal development.
Boulevard: Sitting on top of the main coast road (in a 3km underpass) is the Boulevard park. Beaches & Promenade: San Pedro has an expansive beach and long seafront promenade with Chiringuitos. Paleochristian Necropolis: Paleochristian Balisilica Church and Necropolis are located in woods near the seafront.
The is always ample free street car parking in the Nueva Alcantara zone to the beach side of the Boulevard. There is free but often occupied street car parking around the Boulevard and in the old town area. There is an underground car parking under main shopping street Calle Marques de Duero costing 2.40€ per hour maximum 25€ per day.

Parque de los Tres Jardines (Three Gardens Park) in San Pedro de Alcántara was opened in October 2012 and it is located in the low lying flood plains of the River Guadaliza to the east of the town on the site of an old nursery.
There was a small Roman town here on the Coast called Silniana. The Roman bathhouses can be seen in Guadalmina Baja and the Roman villa in Río Verde. There is also a Byzantine Early Christian Church of Vega del Mar.
On the beach side of the A-7 (was N-340) coast road, underpass and Boulevard there are several districts of San Pedro. Guadalmina Baja is the beach-side part of the development that is divided by the A-7 (old N-340) coastal highway. The two parts, Guadalmina Baja and Guadalmina Alta are joined by a tunnel and are collectively known as Guadalmina.
Just along the coast from nearby Marbella and Puerto Banus, San Pedro de Alcántara has long been a popular holiday destination. No wonder, then, that it has an abundance of restaurants ready to serve the hungry holiday-makers that come off the beach for a delicious meal.
San Pedro Boulevard is a park built over the main coastal highway through this town. Since it opened in December 2014, the park has become a popular feature of the town. One of the more distinctive aspects of the boulevard is its eye-catching footbridge that passes over the central roundabout and connects the two areas on either side of it.
This is the long straight and wide beach backed by a seafront promenade, cycle path and a quiet urban access road. This beach is never crouded due to its size. The beach offers full services including a Red Cross first aid post.
Guadalmina is a golfers paradise, offering an array of golf courses just five minutes from the beach. Situated just west of San Pedro, the urbanisation is just a short drive from the nearby luxurious resorts of Puerto Banús and Marbella.
San Pedro does not have a bus station, but a bus lay-by located near the town centre on the Boulevard over the A-7 underpass. Services are operated from here to Algeciras, Benahavis, Cadiz, Cordoba, Estepona, Granada, La Linea, Málaga, Marbella (town centre and bus station), Ronda and Seville.
