Cordoba - Gazpacho Cream

A thick cream which is served in individual ramekins as a starter, to be eaten with a spoon. It also makes a good party dip, accompanied by bread sticks and vegetable dippers. To turn it into gazpacho, just thin with water and serve with the usual accouterments of chopped onions, cucumbers, green peppers and bread crumbs.

Wild Flowers - Cistus albidus

Cistus are often referred to as rock or sun roses because of their appearance and habitat.

This particular species, Cistus albidus, usually forms nice compact,woody, evergreenshrubs, growing to around 1m tall and 1m wide. It gets its common name from its soft-velvetystalkless leaves,which have a greyish-white appearance due to a fine covering of fine hairs on both surfaces of the leaf.

Alameda

This small town of barely 5,000 inhabitants north-west of Antequera is probably most famous for its cadaverous celebrity El Tempranillo, the legendary 19th century bandit born in nearby Jauja and buried in Alameda's Iglesía de la Purísima Concepción church. The so-called Principe de la Sierra, prince of the mountains, is the most colourful of Andalucía's many bandit heroes.

Castillo de la Aragonesa

The fourteenth-century castle is currently privately owned, and its structure has undergone extensive damage, raising concerns for its long-term conservation. In 1993 the Junta de Andalucía granted special recognition to the castles of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

Grieta de Benamejí

The "Crack of Benamejí" had come one of the best known geological phenomena of Andalucia. It was not a single crack but a huge landslip which destroyed a large part of the town. Landslides on the southern slope of Benamejí escarpment had been occurring for several centuries, including a sudden slide recorded in 1739. It was in February 1963 that a particularly large movements occurred, destroying 55 homes and damaging another 50.

Golf News - Chesters storms ahead in Valderrama

Ashley Chesters finished his opening round with a flourish to open up a one-stroke lead on the weather-disrupted opening day of the Andalucía Valderrama Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation.

The 28 year old Englishman fired back-to-back birdies at the 17th and 18th holes to record a five under par round of 66 and claim the clubhouse lead on a day when over four hours were lost because of bad weather.

Sedella

Sedella is a town on the beautiful Ruta Mudejar in the Axarquia comarca. It's positioned 700m above sea level and was possibly once fortified with a large area of farmland at the foot of the town known as Sedelia or Xedelia.

Antiguo Hospital de San Juan de Dios

The large hospital was built in the fifteen century thanks to private donations and the patronage of the Municipal Council, the institution eventually became one of the longest-established Hospitals in the history of Spain, as well as the oldest in Jaén.
