Ardales

Mausaleo Romana

The typology of these archaeological remains indicates that they are undoubtedly those of a second-century Roman funerary tower, erected to bury an important figure.

Guadiaro village

Guadiaro is village in the municipal district of San Roque, a few kilometres inland from the western bank of the Guadiaro river. The village takes its name from the river and has a population of about 2,000. Once a more popular destination, nowadays Guadiaro is missed by most tourists driving along the coastal road. The village is connected to the coastal highway A-7 by the A-2103. This local road was the original coastal highway before the concrete bridge over the Guadiaro (current A-7) was constructed in 1969, shaving 15 minutes off the coastal route.

Cartajima

Located halfway between the Ronda-San Pedro road and village of Juzcar, Cartajima is a small, quiet hamlet. It is one of the highest communities in the province of Malaga, at 846m above sea level. Like other villages in the Alto Genal of the Serrania de Ronda, Cartajima is famous for its chestnut trees , which are harvested in October and November.

Customs entering Spain

Duty-free allowances have been abolished within the EU. Travelers entering Spain from any EU country may take in the following generous quantities of alcohol and tobacco: 200 cigars, 3,200 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos, 10 litres of spirits, 110 litres of beer, 20 litres of fortified wine and/or 90 litres of wine.

Hospital Real

The civil building houses the Velezano Miguel Guirao Regional Museum and the Vélez Rubio Municipal Tourism Office. The building was built in 1765 and from the early years of the nineteenth century it was the subject of a hectic and eventful life, as it served successively as a center of occupation for French troops and a hospital for the poor in 1822.

Plaza de la Constitución

The town square has always been a meeting place for a ball game or conversations. A plaque has stood in the centre giving the square its name since 1881.

Priego de Cordoba - History

The first references to Priego date to the Middle Paleolithic era (40,000-33,000 BC). Much later, the Roman Empire occupied the area between the third century BC and the fifth century AD. During the period of the Caliphate of Córdoba, the settlement was known as Medina Bahiga.
