Museo Arqueologico Antiquarium

Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area

Southwest of the coastal resort Roquetas del Mar is a 15km-long strip of protected coastline, the Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area and Reserve. Like Albufera de Adra Natural Reserve along the coast, this is a wildlife haven encircled by a sea of plastic from the intensive agriculture that surrounds it. Even in the height of summer the beach is often deserted and its isolation makes it an ideal spot for birdwatching.

History of Atarfe

According to the authors Amador Díaz García and Manuel Barrios Aguilera, the name Atarfe comes from the Arabic word al-taraf, meaning 'point', which in the Granada dialect would be a- tarf. This is probably in reference to the nearby Castillejo and Tajo Colorao peaks. However, other sources suggest that it originates from the Arabic word artarf, meaning 'boundary', as the boundary of the old city of Elvira was located nearby

Nagüeles Park

This is a natural park located right at the foot of the Sierra Blanca mountain at the urbanisation Marbella Sierra Blanca, next to the School. The construction of the palace of Juan Vázquez de Molina began around the year 1562. It was built according to the design of the prestigious architect, Andrés de Vandelvira, who six years later delivered the finished work to its promoter, Don Juan Vázquez de Molina. /p>

Manolete was born July 4th, 1917 in Cordoba and died in the bullring at Linares in Jaen on August 28th 1947. What transpired during the years in between was the making of a myth and legend so great, the world of bullfighting in Spain will forever remember the name of Manolete.
