Casa Calvo Valero

Casa Calvo Valero

Casa Calvo Valero is a grand 18th-century manor house with farm buildings and outbuildings at the rear. Its interior courtyard is paved with stones arranged in a pattern and features a prominent marble fountain with an iron water pump resting on a cistern beneath the paving. An inscription on the fountain gives the year of construction as 1973.

Eight marble columns surround the rectangular courtyard and support the coffered ceilings of the ground floor and upper galleries. The upper galleries feature porticoes, columns and wooden coffered ceilings, with spacious rooms distributed around them on both floors. The Calvo-Valero family, its current owners, have meticulously restored the arcaded courtyard while preserving its structure and appearance.

The façade has period-style balconies and windows, as well as a large door with a wicket gate framed by a grand marble portal. The portal is crowned with a coat of arms representing the Ave Maria and the House of the Figueruela family, who owned the property at the end of the eighteenth century. The house is located on Plaza de la Cruz.
