Conil de la Frontera - El Colorado
El Colorado is a small village to the north of Conil de la Frontera, situated on the N-340 coastal road. Since the construction of the A-48 motorway, heavy traffic has bypassed the village which has benefited and developed its own identity. Administratively El Colorado is a pedania (dependency) of Conil.
The local parish church of Fatima has several pilgrimage’s each year. Some pass trough the El pinar de Roche, where 30.000 m2 still remain and lead from the village down to the coast.
There is a Casa de Postas so the south of El Colorado which was the roadside house that collected the post from the stage coaches. The origin of the name of the village is said to be from the old Venta el Colorado which was founded in 1871. In 2023 the venta was replaced by ferretería de Jesús.
Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Fátima
Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Fátima is one of the newer churches Conil de la Frontera. Construction began in 1960 and the church was completed in 1962 on an 800 m2 plot known as Pago del Carrascal. The parish church features contemporary architecture with a building consisting of a single nave. It houses a beautiful altarpiece where Our Lady of Fatima holds pride of place.Since its construction, the Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Fátima has remained a point of reference in the district of El Colorado.
