The church was erected in accordance with a papal bull issued by the Metropolitan Church of Granada in 1501. It stands on the site of the former Xini Mosque, as recorded in the Book of Habices. Originally consisting of a single nave, the church still retains its Mudejar coffered ceiling with lacework, designed by Antonio Bermúdez and Cristóbal Calvo of the Granada school. Around 1642, the church was expanded to include three semicircular naves with triumphal arches built of brick and masonry, as were the three semicircular entrance doors. Inside, there are 12 paintings from the Granada Baroque School known as the 'Apostolic Series', dating back to around 1700. The tabernacle and pulpit are also worth seeing, with the latter topped with a sculpture of the Faith. The church is located on Avenida de Andalucía.
