Castillo-Palacio

Castillo-Palacio

The castle was rebuilt on the remains of an Arab communication fortress, of which a tower dating from 1500 is still preserved. It sits on a 7,200m² plot, with the building itself occupying approximately 2,000m². Surrounded by gardens that highlight the building’s vibrant colours, it comprises a series of interconnected towers with battlements and pointed horseshoe arches.

One of the rooms, where King Alfonso XIII stayed, features an Arabesque dome. Around 1900, it was inhabited by the Duke of San Pedro, and later became the property of the National Institute of Colonisation.

It was subsequently restored and adapted for new use. On June 15, 2016, the local council reclaimed the castle for the public, and it is now open to visitors.

Located on Calle Real.
