This beach is bounded to the west by the River Velez and the estuary here is a protected natural area. Paraje Natural Desembocadura Rio Velez. There is also a bird observatory.

Dog Beach Torre del Mar

This small beach is located between the River Velez and the cluster of buildings from the old farmstead that cuts off this beach from the main Torre del Mar beach and seafront. There is also a couple of trendy beach bars here; Cafe del Mar and Berebere Oasis del Mar. As a buffer to the modern world there is also a large open ground noormally quiet and used as a car park howevr the fist weekend in July 30.000 gather to dance the night away for three nights at the Torre del Mar Weekend Beach Festival.

Torre del Mar Beach

The town hall have take qreat trouble to make this one of the best kept beaches on the Costa del Sol. It has beachfront promenade runs the full length is backed by gardens keeping the bars, cafes and restaurants back a safe distance. You can often find runners first thing in the morning or cyclists enjoying the extensive bike path along the promenade. Beach is 3 km long and 70 to 100m wide. It is classified as an urban beach.

Torre del Mar beach has received Blue Flag almost every year since 2010 only missing out in 2016. It has also received the "Q" quality national distinction since 2009, Ecoplayas since 2011, Sicted since 2014, ISO 14001 for environment management since 2018, ISO 170001 since 2016 and Cardioprotected beach since 2016. The are also more restrictions here than most other beaches in spain and include putting up carpas (open tents or sunshades) bigger than 3m square.
