What was once a small fishing village, known simply as Sancti Petri, has now developed into one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Costa de la Luz. It is important to distinguish between the town of Sancti Petri, and the newer urbanisation of Novo Sancti Petri, just to the south. Both have an abundance of hotels and other accommodation options, including self-catering apartments and villas, however the vast majority of resort-style hotels with swimming pools and golf courses are to be found in Novo Sancti Petri, built alongside the wonderful beaches there.
Most of the hotels in Novo Sancti Petri are large, resort-style hotels with all the imaginable facilities available - the most impressive being the Meliá Sancti Petri. The vast majority have direct access to the beach as well as their own swimming pools and spas. There are a few smaller, boutique style hotels in Sancti Petri town, as well as a large variety of apartments and villas. There are also aparthotels, which provide self-catering apartments and villas
