What was once a small fishing village is now the most important touristic hub of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar National Park. San José is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery in Almería province and also has some of the most spectacular beaches on the Costa Almería. This has led to the town becoming a tourist´s paradise and to the construction of many hotels and guesthouses (hostals). Fortunately, it has managed to avoid the high-rise blocks that are frequented around the Spanish coast and, as a result, has kept it´s natural beauty and splendour.
There is an abundance of hotels and accommodation in San José. There are resort-style hotels located next to the beach that provide a lovely destination for holiday makers. Further in town there are local guesthouses and hostals which provide a slightly cheaper option for tourists. They are comfortable and sometimes even luxurious and are definitely worth considering. There is also a wide variety of self-catering accommodation and apartments on offer in the area for those who want to have more privacy during their holiday.
