Cascamorras festival in the towns of Guadix and Baza has been declared Festival of International Tourism interest due to its intriguing history. Although the festival is relatively little-known outside Granada province, by latest estimates up to 20,000 people take part, running through the streets and covering each other in black olive oil in Baza and coloured paste in Guadix.

In the northeast of Granada province adjacent to neighbouring Almeria is the sparsely populated 53,649ha Sierra de Baza Natural Park, part of the Cordillera Penibética. Its steep slopes are mainly pine-clad, up to the more barren, rocky ground over 2,000m. Its central part is made up of remote, jagged limestone peaks, which can be snow covered for some of the winter and are inhabited by majestic birds of prey.

The Altiplano region of Baza is one of the unspoiled jewels of Andalusia. Situated in the north of the Granada Province, is the town of Baza, the capital of the overall area of the same name. The other, smaller villages in the Baza area are: Benamaurel, Caniles, Cortes de Baza, Cuevas del Campo, Cúllar, Freila, and Zújar.

The Colegiata de Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Encarnación is the Catedral de Baza. Constructed on the site of a Muslim mosque, was initially used by the church in its constructed mosque form.

There are a range of small hotels in and around Baza rangind form one to three stars.

Founded by Baza Town Hall in 1988 and open to the public as it is today since 1998, has some incredible exhibits of archaeological interest. It is part of the Andalusian Museum Network and comes under wing of the Andalusian Region Government. There are four sections in the museum dedicated to permanent exhibits, covering; Iberia, Medieval, Roman and Prehistoric eras.

There are numerous remains of ancient watchtowers in and around Baza. Each one of these watchtowers was strategically placed and they all played an important role in the protection of the town of Baza in times of fierce conflict. They are all of immense historic interest.

There are several interesting Archaeological sites in around Baza including >Marzuela Arabic Baths, The Alcazaba, the Iberian/Roman City of Basti, the Iberian Necrópolis on Sanctuary Hill, and the Roman Villa in the town itself.

The religious influence in Baza is underlined by the number of churches and convents still standing today. Religion is a fundamental part of the culture and tradition of Baza and there are many churches and buildings of religious origin to be seen;

Baza has a numbe rof historic building of interest to the visitor, namelt the old town hall, old butchers shops, Golden Spouts Fountain, the Enríquez Palace, Royal Granary Building and the Palace of the Royal Duke.
