Room Mate Larios Hotel

Small-scale contemporary design in a plum spot.

A new face for the famous Hotel Larios, favourite of the city’s most celebrated living son, Antonio Banderas. With its reception on the first floor, this small hotel has a modern, trendy feel with Art Deco styling. Staff are informally dressed in T-shirts and tracksuits, making a relaxed, unstuffy atmosphere.

Live pianists entertain in the light, airy café-cocktail bar, while the 41 rooms and suites are good-sized and well equipped, with high ceilings and original design touches such as oval-shaped mirrors, cheerful checked fabrics, and round glass tables, handing to use while sitting on your bed, either as a desk for your computer or iPad, or for eating your dinner while watching TV.

Like other hotels in the centre of Malaga, this one also has a roof bar, with uber-cool black and white designer chairs. At the top of Calle Larios, the hotel is ideally located for visiting museums, with the Picasso and new Carmen Thyssen both a few minutes’ walk away. Buffet breakfast is served till 12 midday, perfect for late risers who prefer a lie-in.

  • Stylish décor, trendy ambience
  • Free WIFI
  • Free apples in reception

Perfect for: barflies, art lovers.
