Four star Hotels

Estepona has a surprising number of Five star Luxury Hotels, both east and west of the town itself. These include the luxurious Kempinski Bahia and Villa Padierna, both a few kilometres to the east.

Casa del Poeta

To be in the heart of the action: this small hotel is on a street connecting the cathedral and Plaza Nueva, and close to innumerable tapas bars and restaurants. It has pretty rooms with lots of character, friendly staff, and good prices. Those of independent mind who don't need all the bells and whistles of five (or even four)-star service, but who want an excellent location and interiors with style.

Hotel Legado Alcazar

This is the only hotel in Seville which directly overlooks the Alcazar gardens. It's a beautifully converted 17th century casa palacio, small and beautifully styled. Garden-lovers will be in heaven, with the full view of the palm-fringed palace gardens, especially if they can nab one of the top floor rooms with private plant-filled terrace, which enjoys unimpeded views over the fence.

Hotel Condestable Iranzo

A large modern hotel located on the corner of the main shopping street, close to the Jaen Museum. This hotel has 158 spacious guest rooms, some in classic, elegant style, others with a simple, modern feel. You can find culinary satisfaction at the restaurant and English-style bar, with outdoor terrace featuring micro-climate for summer and heating in winter.

Infanta Cristina

This modern hotel is located in a new area of Jaen, five minutes from the El Corte Ingles department store. Its impressive marble atrium with stunning stained glass window has two glass lifts to transport guests to each floor in memorable style.

HO Ciudad de Jaen

Handy for the A44 Bailen-Motril motorway, this modern hotel complex was built in 2004 and has an impressive double-height entrance lobby with vaulted ceiling. The decor is themed around olives, with custom-made chandeliers and large murals depicting Jaen’s key crop.

Occidental Cádiz

Its tall, light atrium has a bold red reception area, avant-garde amorphous furniture, and pointed teardrop-shaped floor lamps. The 96 guest rooms with sea views, furnished in a sleek, nautical, contemporary style in shades of neutral beige, crisp white and navy blue. Each room has a minibar and small safe; interconnecting rooms for those travelling with children are available.

Senator Spa Hotel

This hotel has a bright and cheery patio, in traditional Andalucian style, complete with colourful tiles, green plants and a fountain. Rooms, some of which are apartments, are decorated in warm colours, with a 32”LCD TV and tea and coffee tray (junior suites have espresso machines). Interior rooms look onto the patio.

Hotel Monte Puertatierra

Located in the new part of the city, this hotel in a classic-modern style is a short walk from the old town. It is very near Santa Maria del Mar beach, and you can find many shops close by. Spacious rooms are simply but stylishly furnished, with wood floors, and tea and coffee-making facilities, plus a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and choice of pillows. Note that rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter, although with no view; second-floor rooms have been refurbished.

Hotel Cádiz Paseo del Mar, Affiliated by Meliá

This nine-storey hotel is situated on long, sandy La Caleta beach - its façade is simple and classic, and the interior was refurbished in 2013. The 143 rooms are spacious and modern, with wood floors - be sure to ask for a superior room with sea view, on a higher floor, so you can enjoy the spectacular sunset. Tea and coffee making facilities also in superior rooms. All have free WIFI and satellite TV. Family rooms have bunk beds.

Playa Victoria Hotel

This four-star hotel, with smoked glass façade, looks over the long sandy beach, and is located about 30 minutes’ walk from the old town. Each of the spacious rooms – there are 188 – has a 1960s-style pod-like curved white balcony, with décor in muted, neutral tones; 32-inch TVs offer multimedia applications. Suites have their own private terraces. WIFI is free.

Hotel NH Luz Huelva

This city centre four-star hotel, with a distinctive 1960s façade, offers 107 bright modern guest rooms with wooden floors, minibar, choice of pillows and WIFI, as well as a balcony in most rooms; there are triples, junior suites and one suite. Rooms on the higher floors have the best views of the river and the Columbus Monument.

AC Hotel Huelva by Marriot

The 65 guest rooms of the AC Hotel Huelva by Marriott have safes, minibars and black marble bathrooms with glass sinks, with cots and extra beds available; there is free WIFI throughout the hotel. The hotel lounge and restaurant have elegant retro tubular steel chairs - there is a mini-store where you can buy drinks and snacks in the spacious reception, bathed in natural light thanks to huge windows.

Hotel Eurostars Tartessos

This four-star hotel has 100 guest rooms offering mini-bar and satellite TV. Some rooms have balconies; family rooms for two adults and two children are available. You can eat at the Mirta restaurant, which serves traditional Andalucian dishes from the region such as Sanlucar prawns, jamon iberico and mushrooms from the Sierra de Aracena, and mojama from Isla Cristina, and is housed around a glassed-in patio.

Parador de Malaga Golf

This hotel is a unique concept in Paradores as it is the only golf hotel in the chain. A comfortable, modern and cosy facility with banquet facilities and a lovely dining room, this Parador is right on the edge of the Costa del Sol with an undeveloped stretch of beach right in front of the hotel and a beachside promenade to the right (if you are looking at the hotel towards the sea) that now provides a thoroughly enjoyable walk to nearby Torremolinos.

Hotel Petit Palace Plaza Málaga

The Petit Palace Plaza Hotel Malaga occupies a late 19th-century palace. Located in the heart of the city, just off Calle Larios, the building has been refurbished and updated for the 21st century. The impressive architecture is perfectly conserved while at the same time the hotel offers all the comfort and high-tech facilities you’d expect to find in a four-star establishment.

Barcelo Malaga

This hotel is positioned between the old centre and the beach, inside the AVE station which links the city by high-speed train with Seville, Cordoba and Madrid. Ideal for a morning departure or evening arrival, it offers the closest rooms within staggering distance of the train platform; also handy for the airport, which has a train service to the station. The 221 sound-proofed rooms are decorated in chic minimalist white, with pixel-type mosaic designs.

Hotel Soho Boutique (Formerly Los Jandalos)

Elegant hotel and spa in converted winery with magnificent function room just outside the centre. Housed in the restored wine cellars of Williams & Humbert, an impressive red-and-white building with magnificent stone entrance doorway, is located outside the city centre. The 59 rooms and suites offer classic colour themes such as terracotta and cerulean blue, with free WIFI and satellite TV.
