Malaga to Alora

Normally an hourly service, trains run from about 06.03 to 22.45. Journey time 40 mins. However in 2021 many trains were cancelled due to post Covid driver shortages. On 12 November 2021 Renfe introduced a 'temporary' (expect a year) shedule. The first train departs Malaga Alhameda at 06.03 and the last train departs Malaga Alhameda at 21.40 hrs for Alhora taking 40 mins. There are only 13 trains at a frequency of Hourly morning and evening and two hourly in the mid day period. Check times on the link below.

Malaga to Alora

On 12 November 2021 Renfe introduced a 'temporary' (expect a year) shedule. The first train departs Alhora at 06.47 and the last train departs alhora at 22.45 hrs for Malaga Alameda taking 40 mins. There are only 13 trains at a frequency of Hourly morning and evening and two hourly in the mid day period. Check times on the link below.

Line C-2 route

The C-2 line runs on the single-track, electrified, Iberian-gauge railway line, sharing tracks with Renfe Media Distancia and some long-distance trains on the Córdoba to Málaga railway, which opened in 1863. The Málaga to Antequera Santa Ana and Córdoba AVE high-speed line runs parallel from Málaga María Zambrano to Campillos, after which it diverges east of Cartama.

Extensión a El Chorro-Caminito del Rey

The "Proximidad" service runs from Málaga to the Caminito del Rey (El Chorro) station, with about ten semi-direct trains per day. Four of these trains travel between Málaga Centro Alameda, Málaga María Zambrano, Victoria Kent, Los Prados, Campanillas, Cártama, Aljaima, Pizarra, Alora, Las Mellizas, and El Chorro. Six trains start at María Zambrano and go directly to Alora, Las Mellizas, and El Chorro. Journeys that begin or end at Las Mellizas or El Chorro are subject to a fixed fare rather than the Cercanías fare. Cercanías Málaga passes are not valid for Proximidad.

Valid for a journey made within two hours of the ticket purchase.

eg. travel from the Airport (Zone 1) to Fuengirola (Zone 4) counts a travelling within 4 zones.  

There are no return tickets, nor online booking, nor seat reservations. Buy tickets before travel from the ticket machine at the stations.
