Sergio Garcia has close ties with Andalucia
One of the world's top young golfers has close family links with Andalucia. Sergio Garcia has roots in Almeria, where his mother is from, and his sister was born. Sergio has been playing since he was three years old. Garcia has won the European Tour eight times, played in the Ryder Cup team five times (winning three of those), and reached a career-high rating of World No 2 (after Tiger Woods) in 2008, when he won the Players' Championship. "El niño", as he is known, has a number of favourite courses in the region: Valderrama, Real Club de Sotogrande, and Finca Cortesin. His favourite cities in Andalucia are Seville - "beautiful, hot, with lots of energy and life", and, of course, Almeria.
